This fourth answer is a list of the traits the character admires most in others..

This is the type of (admirable) person that the story is calling the character to become.

i A character never admires something that is not already present in nascent or seed-like form inside him or herself. It is the stirrings of that goodness deep inside the character that actively resonates when he or she witnesses the evidence of goodness in another. This resonance is a longing to move toward what is good and what is true in the self.

The Character's Most Admired Traits are:

The seeds of goodness that are buried deep inside the character.

The character’s truest highest most authentic self. The character’s real self, whole and complete.

The end result of making the Leap of Faith.

The (admirable) person the story is calling the character to become.

i This is one alternative ending to the story. If the character makes the Leap of Faith (by surrendering the strongest traits and facing the fear) the story ends with a successful emotional journey. This is not necessarily a “happy ending.” It’s is, however, an ending the feels emotionally satisfying and complete.

i If the character cannot make the Leap of Faith, the character eventually falls to the Dark Side. This is the other possible ending to the story. Click Here to go directly to the Dark Side section.

Laurie Hutzler’s Emotional Toolbox approach incorporates many of the same materials Laurie uses in her popular courses at the famed UCLA film school. It’s the same method Laurie uses in her own work and in all of her international consulting.

The Emotional Toolbox makes intuitive sense—it’s based on universal truths we all know and understand instinctively. Learn to use these principals consciously to make informed creative choices. The Emotional Toolbox is easy to use, and most importantly, it works.
